Summary:

Search directors are responsible for the top-level relationship between a client and Outrider. At the highest level, a search director owns a client relationship and must work to strengthen the relationship and develop new business opportunities within the account. Search directors and senior search directors will not only be responsible for overseeing the account team and their clients, but may also be assigned to oversee and train associate Search directors who are not on their account team. The search director will report directly to the Managing Director of Outrider for any client related issues. For non-client related issues, the search director will report to the director of personnel.

There are multiple levels of search directors. The beginning level is the associate search director, who will continue to handle some of the search manager responsibilities while gradually taking on search director responsibilities. An associate search director will be assigned to smaller accounts or will work with a search director or senior search director on larger accounts. The associate search director will report to an assigned search director or senior search director. Search directors are expected to be able to lead large projects, while senior search directors are expected to be able to lead a project of any size, type or complexity.

Detailed Description:

Search Directors responsibilities include the following:

  • Financial

    • Search directors are responsible for the clients' overall search budget and ensuring that it is being spent as scheduled and effectively.

    • Develops manpower estimates and submits to Managing Partner for approval

    • Develops IWO/ contract request and submits to finance team

    • Supports the finance group on billing issues

    • Ensures all necessary paperwork is in place for all client campaigns

    • Requests tempo codes from finance and distributes to team

    • Reviews estimates vs. actual hours on all client accounts to ensure that all accounts are being serviced at the same level they are being billed

    • Trains junior team members on financial processes

  • New Business

    • Prepares and delivers new business pitches/ proposals

    • Initiates/ oversees all research specific to Biz Dev opportunities including Hitwise, qSearch and engine data pulls

    • Works through sales process until close

    • Ensures that client's success metrics are attainable before taking on new business

  • Strategy

    • Understands client's success goals

    • Brings together necessary resources for strategy and goal establishment

    • Leads strategy development processes and builds out tactical plans to support strategies

  • Management

    • Leads client relationships and manages the overall relationship building process on accounts

    • Resolves account conflicts

    • Works with clients to uncover business needs, identifies areas of opportunity to increase account growth

    • Manages the internal account team and effectively fosters teamwork and drives motivation

    • Participates in the training and development, mentoring and retention of staff members under their management

    • Actively contributes to company initiatives, processes and roll-outs

    • Shares learnings with team and discuss potential impact on client programs

    • Masters knowledge of client's business, competition and latest industry news and trends.

    • Provides input for manager, specialist and strategist performance review

  • Tactical

    • Organizes and leads presentations, in-person client meetings and conference calls, while incorporating staff where needed

    • Develops project plan and deliverable timeline

    • Manages project plan to ensure the team is delivering on schedule

    • Recommends division of budget to account for media spend, agency fees, tracking fees, etc.

    • Establish campaign metrics and KPIs

    • Reviews report, provides additional analysis and recommendations and submits to client for review

    • Account performance troubleshooting

    • Identifies testing opportunities presents to client
