Summary:
Search managers are responsible for day to day management of a client account. Search managers
will not only be responsible for overseeing the specialists on their accounts, but may also be assigned to assist
with training others on search manager job duties and processes. The search manager reports to the next most
senior person on the account team.
There are multiple levels of search managers. The beginning level is the associate search manager, who will
continue to handle some of the specialist responsibilities while gradually taking on search manager
responsibilities. An associate search manager will generally manage smaller accounts or will work with a search
manager or senior search manager on larger accounts. A search manager will typically be responsible for managing
larger accounts, while a senior search manager should be able to manage an account of any size, type or complexity.

Search Manager responsibilities include the following:
Financial
Completes and manages financial forms
Responsible for effectively managing the search spend as planned by director, client or agency
Submits media tracker to finance monthly
Strategy
Works with a search director to build the strategy
Executes a search campaign against the strategy
New Business
Supports new business efforts by assisting others with proposals, research and data collection
Actively participates in organization and development of new business pitches with senior level guidance
Client Interaction
Participates in calls and meetings
Develops client interaction agendas and materials as needed
Leads calls when they are relevant to work that has been produced by the search manager
Management
Manages relationships with vendors on their accounts
Oversees specialists to ensure timely and accurate product or results delivery
Provides input for specialist performance reviews
Tactical
Maintain knowledge of client's business, competition and latest industry news and trends.
Provides direction on keyword development to specialists, who are responsible drafting initial keyword lists
Reviews keyword list, landing pages, and estimates, finalizes and submits to client for review
Provides direction to specialists for creative development
Reviews creative written by specialists, revises as needed and submits final to client for approval
Provides direction to specialist for trafficking out campaign
Checks to ensure that action tags are in place on site
Checks to ensure that campaign is tracking properly immediately after launching
Works with vendors to set-up accounts in search engines
Takes screenshots when campaign launches and then regularly throughout campaign
Checks status of accounts daily
Sets-up initial SMR
Checks SMR for accuracy
Provides analysis and executive summary for SMR
Provides reporting in PPT format as needed
Submits completed report to search director for final review before being sent to Client
Takes client through results on monthly calls
Implements new testing using direction from search director
Account performance troubleshooting
Assists in training other employees on search manager job duties and processes
